The paint does not remain valid. It defaults to the camo (base color is that of what color of paint you choose in the solid) livery. You have to pull the vehicle out of the garage a few times before the solid paint color you choose will stick. Or go to an auto upgrade shop , hit base livery on the options and drive out. It doesn't always happen this way.  From what I understood this does happen to others and on other car models.
